POSITION DESCRIPTION:
CV Inc. is currently seeking applicants interested in an entry-level position in the CAD Management profession at our Gaithersburg or Baltimore office. This position is an opportunity for a senior CAD technician, IT professional, or civil engineering professional that wants to pursue a career in CAD Management. CV is interested in candidates that show an aptitude to learn CAD management and develop a companywide CAD policy. Recruits will be self-learners with opportunities to attend training, webinars, and CAD conventions. CV, Inc will support an eager candidate that has the proficiency to learn and welcome new challenges.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School / GED
- CAD experience is required.
- Experience with ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil3d is preferred.
- Experience with Land survey software (Carlson Survey, Trimble Business Center, and StarNet, TopoDOT) is a plus.
- An eagerness to learn CAD Management
- A basic understanding of workspaces, seed files, templates, CAD standards, and configuration is preferred.
- A familiarity of MDSHA and DelDOT CAD standards is preferred.
- Computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and project management software.
- Outstanding writing and presentation skills are required.
- Ability to obtain security clearances.
- Must be a US Citizen or have a valid work visa.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
- Positive attitude and professionalism
- Must be able to interact and communicate in a positive and meaningful way with all levels of staff.
- Programming abilities are a plus.
- Experience with file sharing, document management, and collaboration tools.
- Organized and High level of attention to detail.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Work will be initially assigned by an IT manager who provides instructions and assistance. However, the CAD Manager position will eventually grow to a self-managed position that meets the CAD needs.
- Management of the CAD software
- including updates, installation, and licensing
- Management of Plotters
- Responsible to keep up to date with new CAD technology.
- Recommend new CAD software and hardware.
- Identify opportunities for increasing workflow efficiencies.
- Develop best practices for CAD usage.
- Maintain shared knowledgebase accessible by network or intranet.
- Provide CAD training.
- Provide CAD support.
- Communicate to employees regarding technical challenges, outages, and updates.
- Create & program custom applications such as MicroStation Macros, AutoCAD Lisp, and other applications.
- Manage and build a networked CAD standards drive
- Build AutoCAD templates and MicroStation Workspaces.
- Head up a CAD Committee consisting of key employees experienced in CAD.
- The CAD committee will ensure that all adherence to CAD standards and procedures as well as adherence to accepted industry standards are met.
- The CAD committee will assist to develop and document a company-wide CAD policy.
- Perform an inventory of CAD software and its usage.
- May be required at times to work with engineers or surveyors to prepare a wide variety of drawings and three-dimensional models and other type of drawings required for technical documentation.
- Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
- Represents CV at various client CAD meetings and seminars.
- Manage the ProjectWise software to meet client CAD requirements.
- Manage client security requirements for CAD
- Communicates with clients to ensure CAD expectations are met.
